About UKIP Manchester

The UKIP Manchester branch was set up by the branch chairman Phil Eckersley in 2013 with other members of the former UKIP Trafford branch.  The branch is a popular branch, and meets the needs of many people right across the North West, though it has its roots and primary membership from Manchester the city.

The branch Chairman (Phil Eckersley) is very active in the party,  He is the co-chairman of UKIP Greater Manchester, and also sits on the party's Health policy committee.

Phil Eckersley was in the UKIP Trafford Branch and thought that Manchester needed a branch of its own.  He and a few others set up the UKIP Manchester branch.  Phil stood in the Gorton constituency and gained 3,434 votes.  He stood for the aborted 2017 by-election, and is standing in the 2017 General Election for Manchester Gorton.  The branch's secretary Kalvin P Chapman is standing for the Manchester Central seat, which achieved third place with 11.1% of the vote in the 2015 General Election.  Both Phil & Kalvin aim to beat the 2015 votes.

Manchester's branch is central to the North West, which continues to be a target of UKIP for more members and future MPs and Councillors.

The branch was out on the streets every weekend in regards to the Referendum that took place on 23 June 2016 resulting in a 52% majority vote to leave the EU.  Phil led the branch as they meet the people of Manchester and provided the Manchester constituents with some of the answers to their questions about why Manchester should vote to leave the EU.  UKIP Manchester worked with people from across the political spectrum, and was very proud of doing so.
